ABOUT ME

Hi! I’m Renée, a clinical social worker who believes that the most courageous act we can do for ourselves is starting the journey of discovering who we really are - daring to question our current reality and what others have told us we are "supposed" to be. So often we can get weighed down by these messages, which can lead to feelings of isolation, disconnection, and a sense of feeling lost.
I strive to create a safe space in which the journey to living your most authentic life can unfold. I work with adolescents and adults experiencing issues related to perfectionism or chronic worrying/ruminating thoughts, acute or complex trauma, relationship concerns, substance abuse, grief/loss, gender/sexual identity, and spiritual curiosity/exploration. I see myself as someone who will listen when you need to be heard, sit with you when you’re in pain, and celebrate the victory of overcoming challenges.
HOW I HELP
I utilize an integrative approach to therapy, which essentially means that I like to mix and match various treatment modalities to provide a unique and personalized approach to help you achieve your specific needs and goals for therapy.
I believe that past events can have profound affects on our current experience of life, but also that our current environments and the systems of which we are a part play a role in how we view ourselves, others, and how we relate to the world in a broader context.
I am a proponent of using psychodynamic, attachment, and systems theories to inform my work, while applying practical approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and mindfulness-based practices
In this work, I like to think of us as co-captains, as therapy should always be a collaborative experience. You are the ultimate expert here, as no one knows you and your life experiences better than you. You decide where we start and where you want to go on this journey, and I will help you navigate this new terrain.
EXPERIENCE
While obtaining my Masters in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago, I gained extensive experience working with domestic violence survivors and their children. I then spent several years working as a crisis intervention specialist in a hospital emergency department before venturing into private practice to work more closely with clients on an individual basis.
